How to Process Your Grief to Face the New Year

Getting through the holidays when a loved one has recently passed may have been difficult for you. And now that 2021 is here, we can’t even begin to imagine what you’re feeling now that you have to face a new year.

As your trusted provider of hospice and palliative care, we wish to give you some tips so you can face this year with positive expectations.

Know that processing grief is different from person to person. Do not feel burdened that you ought to feel a certain way while going through your grief journey.

Slow down and give yourself plenty of rest. Going through grief is more taxing than you think, so find time to rest, meditate, and eat the right foods.

Surround yourself with people who understand what you’re going through. Avoid people who think you need to hurry up and get over your grief and quickly move on.

Treat yourself kindly. Allow yourself to heal naturally and let it take all the time it needs to heal.

For the bereaved, the new year is filled with anxiety and complex mixtures of emotions. That’s why, if you ever feel overwhelmed, know that Bonum Hospice Services is here to help you.
